Happy Holidays, Frontier-Style
Each December, Historic Washington, a village near Maysville in Mason County, mounts a “Frontier Christmas” complete with strolling carolers, demonstrations of old-fashioned crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides, musical performances, and food. Come along with host Byron Crawford as he samples the attractions in this Kentucky Life holiday special. The village of Washington contains examples of 1790s row houses and log cabins. Numerous antiques dealers and other merchants operate in restored homes and buildings. And six museums and the childhood home of Confederate Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston also draw tourists to the area year-round. But it’s at Christmas time that the region really gets “dolled up.” ![]() |
