Mutton and More Owensboro’s Moonlite Bar-B-Q The Western Kentucky city of Owensboro hosts an annual International Barbecue Festival and has proclaimed itself the “Barbecue Capital of the World.” One of the best places to check out that claim is the Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn, which specializes in mutton and is known far and wide for its bountiful buffet. The restaurant is open daily. But if you can’t get to Owensboro, some of its famous products are available online or by mail order. |

A Crafty Town
To work off all that barbecue, let’s travel to the opposite end of the state to visit the Eastern Kentucky town of David, where many community members make and sell quilts and other traditional Appalachian craft items. In a program sponsored by St. Vincent’s Mission in David, local women are rediscovering the value of the traditional arts—not just for use in their own homes, but also as a source of much-needed income. |
