Summer Theater Season 2014

Kentucky's amphitheaters and parks feature a variety of productions, from "The Stephen Foster Story" and "Blood Song: The Story of the Hatfields and the McCoys" to the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival. A listing of some of the more prominent productions, with phone numbers and play schedules, is available from the Kentucky Tourism Cabinet.

Bards and Storytellers: Playwright Leona Godin

Admission is free, but registration is required. Call 502-899-2213 or email kcarpenter@aph.org to register. Best for adults and children age 12 and up. Godin, a New York-based playwright and performer, has written and directed plays focusing on Helen Keller and on the early history of education for the blind. Hear about the personal events and forces that have shaped her career, and view performance excerpts from her plays.

Japanese Winter Plum Festival

Kyogen Theatre, a form of traditional Japanese theatre, is designed to make the audience laugh. Performances represent humorous fables involving colorful townspeople.
