After graduating from Texas Western (now the University of Texas at El Paso), Nevil Shed went on to play in the NBA for the Boston Celtics. Since then, he has built a second career as a successful school and college administrator. He is coordinator of student programs at the University of Texas-San Antonio and a celebrated motivational speaker and consultant for the San Antonio Spurs.

In early 2006, the 40th anniversary of the famous Texas Western-UK game was marked with a portrayal on the silver screen: Jerry Bruckheimer’s film Glory Road. And Shed’s image appeared on a special commemorative Wheaties cereal box.
