Women Leading Kentucky promotes women’s leadership in the state through awards, scholarships, roundtable luncheons, and an annual Women’s Business and Leadership Conference. Holloway discusses finding keynote speakers for the conference who both inspire and connect with the audience. One of the speakers at this year’s conference was Christie Hefner, former CEO of Playboy Enterprises and one of Forbes Magazine’s 100 Most Powerful Women in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
She also lists several issues that may block women from starting their own businesses or advancing in their careers, including financing and personal confidence. Holloway discusses personal qualities that assist women in leadership roles, the importance of networking and building relationships with community members, and the gender gap in national and state wages.
