The Rev. Nancy Jo Kemper, an ordinated minister in the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), explains her role at the Kentucky Council of Churches, a cooperative organization of 11 Christian denominations in Kentucky. Often working with Kentucky legislators, the council addresses a range of issues such as domestic violence, gun control, the environment, and health care. Kemper delves in to the current debate about expanded gambling, expressing her concerns about the potential revenue source.
A graduate of Transylvania University, Kemper attended Yale University for graduate school. She discusses how she chose the ministry as her occupation and her early seminary work in New England.
She also discusses her more than four decades in the ministry, the challenges she has faced at work and at home, and her plans after retirement.
