Sen. Rand Paul, a leader in the Tea Party movement, is the author of The Tea Party Goes to Washington. He has called for federal budget cuts and has criticized the Patriot Act and TSA airport patdowns as violations of individual freedom.

Paul was a featured speaker at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. His father, Congressman Ron Paul, made an unsuccessful run for the GOP nomination.

An eye surgeon from Bowling Green, Paul was elected to the Senate in 2010. He currently serves on the following committees: Energy and Natural Resources; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; Homeland Security and Government Affairs; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
