Dr. Small is the author of The Alzheimer's Prevention Program: Keep Your Brain Healthy for the Rest of Your Life. A professor of psychiatry at UCLA, he has written six books, including the best-selling The Memory Bible.
Dr. Small has has been studying Alzheimer's for more than two decades. He says that for the average person, lifestyle factors, not genetics, have more impact on whether a person gets Alzheimer's. He discusses how mental and memory exercises, physical fitness, stress management, and a brain-healthy diet can strengthen the brain's connections and delay mental decline.
