Kip Kinkel, a 15-year old from a solid middle-class family, made headlines in 1998 when he was accused of murdering his mother and father and then opening fire on his fellow students at his Eugene, Ore., high school, killing two and injuring 22 others.
On "The Killer at Thurston High , " airing Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET, Frontline goes behind the headlines of this tragic case to explore what went wrong with a seemingly normal teenage boy. The program includes interviews with Kinkel's friends, counselors and family including his sister, Kristin, as she tries to understand what happened with her troubled brother.
Frontline "The Killer at Thurston High , " produced by Mike Kirk, Karen O'Connor and Miri Navasky, is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Viewers can find out more about programming on KET by visiting the KET Web site at www.ket.org http://www.ket.org , a Kentucky.com affiliate.
