Alexander Hamilton, an impoverished immigrant from the West Indies, rose to become a framer of the U.S. Constitution and the architect of America's political economy. Aaron Burr, born in New England to wealth and privilege, served with distinction in the Revolutionary War, founded a national bank and was nearly elected the nation's third president. In 1804, the two met in a duel that changed both men's lives--and the course of history.
Winner for two consecutive years of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Non-Fiction Series, The American Experience delves into the story of the most famous gunfight in American history, which climaxed a longstanding conflict between two of the most important men in the country. "The Duel," hosted by David McCullough, airs Monday, Feb. 14 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET.
