To celebrate British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday, KET and KET2 air an all-star review of his many hit songs, followed by a concert performance from Broadway's darling, Bernadette Peters, Sunday, March 5.
Andrew Lloyd Webber 50th Birthday Celebration: A Great Performances Special, airing at 7/6 p.m. CT, delights viewers of all ages with performances by Antonio Banderas, reprising his big-screen performance of "Oh What a Circus" from Evita, and Glenn Close, singing "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from Sunset Boulevard.
Immediately following at 9/8 p.m. CT, Broadway's baby brings down the house in Bernadette Peters in Concert. The Tony-Award-winning singer performs such classics as "Broadway Baby," "Some People," and "Unexpected Song," which Peters first sang as part of the original Broadway cast of Webber's Song and Dance.
Andrew Lloyd Webber 50th Birthday Celebration: A Great Performances Special is produced by WNET/New York with the Really Useful Theatre Company. Bernadette Peters in Concert is produced by HD Thames Productions. Both programs are closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Viewers can find out more about programming on KET by visiting the KET Web site at http://www.ket.org, a Kentucky.com affiliate.
