Whether viewers go for the cute and cuddly or the lithe and graceful, KET has something for everyone on the evening of March 8.
First, Little Pandas: The New Breed , airing Wednesday, March 8 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET and KET2, follows the trials and tribulations of three baby pandas and their mother. The giant panda was once plentiful throughout China and its neighboring countries, but today there are only an estimated 1,000 of them left in the wild. With their reluctance to breed and their high infant mortality rate, the birth of one of these adorable bear-like animals is always cause for celebration.
For this program, videographers had unrestricted access to the maternity ward doctors at China's Wolong Panda Breeding Center, providing an unusually close-up view. When one mother abandons her baby, the center's medical team takes over, and the cub evolves before the camera from a delicate black-and-white bundle struggling to survive to a pudgy adolescent striving for independence.
Next up is one of PBS' most popular and enduring entertainment shows. Championship Ballroom Dancing (2000) , airing at 9/8 p.m. CT, features all the fancy footwork, creative costumes and high energy that show why ballroom dancing is back in style. Now in its 19th season, America's first television program dedicated to ballroom dancing continues to feature competitive couples who exude style, stamina and passion.
