Jazzy poetry and poetic jazz highlight a special three-day showcase of some of Kentucky's most talented performers on KET's In Performance at the Governor's Mansion in August.

On Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 9/8 p.m. CT, KET premieres "The Poetry of Jazz/The Jazz of Poetry," a new presentation of In Performance at the Governor's Mansion with musical performances by the Mike Tracy Quartet and vocalist Gayle King. Complementing the jazz, Frank X. Walker, Affrilachian poet and director of the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts, and Governor's School for the Arts alumnae Shayla Lawson and Ellen Hagan share their poetry.

Leading up to the new presentation are two of the most popular episodes from the In Performance series. First, on Monday, Aug. 7 at 9/8 p.m. CT, the showcase begins with In Performance at the Governor's Mansion: "Bluegrass Royalty," featuring the legendary pickings of Sam Bush, J. D. Crowe and the Goins Brothers--performers who embody bluegrass music's deepest roots as well as the farthest reaching branches of its new sounds.

Then, on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 9/8 p.m. CT, In Performance at the Governor's Mansion: "On the Road at the RiverPark Center, Owensboro" presents classical and gospel music by the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, pianist Lee Luvisi, vocalist Alma Randolph and the Sutton Singers.

In Performance at the Governor's Mansion, a KET production, is produced and directed by George Ramussen. Nancy Carpenter is executive producer.
