Grammy-nominated vocalist Jimmy Hall and his band, The Prisoners of Love, come to the Jubilee stage Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 8/7 p.m. CT. on KET1 in a performance from the 2003 W.C. Handy Blues Festival.
Born and raised in Mobile, Ala., Hall co-founded R&B-influenced boogie band Wet Willie, best known for the hit "Keep on Smilin'," in 1970. Over the next 10 years, Hall and the group toured with Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers Band, Grand Funk Railroad and the Grateful Dead.
After Wet Willie broke up, Hall started his solo career. His first hit was "I'm Happy That Love Has Found You," and he received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Rock Vocalist for Jeff Beck's 1985 Flash album.Hall's solo album, Rendezvous With The Blues, was released in 1996.
In the '90s, Hall joined with The Prisoners of Love as their lead vocalist and saxophonist, also playing the harmonica.
