Each fall, high school marching bands from across Kentucky compete in a statewide competition sponsored by the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA). Kentucky State High School Marching Band Championships features highlights from this year's exciting competition, which took place at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. The program airs Sunday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m./noon CT on KET1.
The top 20 Kentucky high school bands who competed for honors in the 2006 KMEA State Marching Band Championship were Beechwood, North Hardin, Williamstown, Calloway County, Murray, Garrard County, Nicholas County, Mercer County, Washington County, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Bourbon County, Boyle County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Rowan County, Muhlenberg South, Harrison County, Lafayette, Daviess County, Adair County and Lloyd Memorial.
