Visit the Louisville Life site: www.ket.org/louisvillelife/

A family who recently relocated to Louisville shares what they think of their new Kentucky home on the next edition of Louisville Life . The program, which also features a profile of legendary novelty and theatrical supplier Caufield's and the Louisville Science Center, airs Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Sunday, Jan. 14 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Candyce Clifft hosts.

Sperling's Best Places recently ranked Louisville "number one" for relocating families. In the program's opening segment, viewers will meet some Louisville newcomers, who explain why they chose Louisville as their new home. Find out what city planners say Louisville's strong suits are and what they're doing to keep the city attractive to folks looking for a new home.

Next, Louisville Life takes the curious inside Caufield's Novelty Inc., a Louisville landmark for everyone's whoopee cushion needs. And in October, it's the place to go for Halloween costumes. But in addition to novelties, Caufield's is also one of the largest theatrical distributors in the nation, actively stocking thousands of items. The business--which began in the 1920s when its founder began selling magic tricks in his photography business waiting room--manufactures, imports and distributes merchandise to locations all over the United States and the world.

Then viewers go inside the Louisville Science Center, which has made an impressive journey from its founding as a "cabinet of curiosities" in the public library in 1871 to its current status as the region's leading resource for informal science education. At one time it had little more than an Egyptian mummy and a mineral collection--but now it's the largest hands-on science center in Kentucky, with about 150 interactive exhibits and activity stations, a four-story IMAX theatre, teaching laboratories, educational programs and distance learning capabilities.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
