Antiques Roadshow stopping in Louisville this July

For Release: Jan. 2, 2007

Knock the dust off the dresser and take that masterpiece down from the wall--one of the most popular programs on PBS is coming to Kentucky this summer. Antiques Roadshow will be coming to Louisville July 28 on one of the stops in the series' 12th season on PBS.

Fans of the most-watched program on PBS primetime can get the complete ticketing rules--including how to obtain free tickets to the event --by going online atwww.pbs.org/antiques or by calling toll-free 888-762-3749 beginning Jan. 23.

Ticket recipients, which will be selected at random from all eligible entries, will be entitled to bring two items for a free verbal evaluation by experts from the world's leading auction houses. All ticket holders are guaranteed an appraisal.

Other destinations series producers have announced for the 2007 tour are Baltimore; Orlando, Fla.; San Antonio, Texas; Spokane, Wash.; and Las Vegas.

At these local events appraisers from Bonhams & Butterfields, Christie's, Doyle New York, Freeman's, Skinner, Sotheby's and Swann Galleries offer free evaluations of antiques and collectibles, revealing the often surprising history and value of these items.

Large furniture items, selected from submissions made through the Web site www.pbs.org/antiques) and by postal mail, are chosen in advance to fill the backdrop on the program and to provide local color and flavor. Series producers arrange for transport of these items. To make their selections the appraisers want at least one crisp photo--and no more than three--so they can assess whether a piece is authentic or a reproduction.

More details will be released as the event approaches.

Antiques Roadshow is produced by WGBH/Boston. More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
