Muhammad Ali profiled by native Louisvillian filmmaker
Louisville's Own Ali, produced by Louisville native and former Lexington anchorman and reporter Steve Crump, examines the life and times of the world-famous boxer who claimed to be so fast he could "run through a hurricane and not get wet." The program, which focuses on the Louisville perspective of Ali's story, airs Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 9/8 p.m. CT and Thursday, Jan. 25 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET1 and Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET2.

Through interviews with well-known Louisvillians such as radio personality Bob Edwards and U of L and Colts football legend Lenny Lyles, Crump showcases the hometown connections of the "Louisville Lip." Ali's famous egoism is also spotlighted as Crump points out that he offered blacks a self-confident hero in a time when many were bruised by racial turmoil. Also featured are interviews with former Gov. John Y. Brown, Mayor Jerry Abramson, former state Sen. Georgia Davis Powers and others.

Crump says, "It's great to be a Kentuckian and produce a piece about another Kentuckian who had such a strong voice during my childhood years."

Louisville's Own Ali is produced by Steve Crump.
