KET invites opera fans to attend the Metropolitan Opera's first live high-definition broadcasts into movie theaters. A series of performances will be broadcast live via satellite into movie theaters across the U.S. and Canada, including Lexington's Regal Hamburg Pavilion and Louisville's Cinemark Tinseltown USA. All performances begin at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The screening of Vincenzo Bellini's I Puritani takes place Saturday, Jan. 6 as international sensation Anna Netrebko sings the role of Elvira Walton.
Legendary tenor Plácido Domingo sings the role of the Emperor who unites China and builds the Great Wall on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Tan Dun's The First Emperor.
The sensational Renée Fleming performs the role of Tatiana in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin Saturday, Feb. 24.
Gioachino Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville), conducted by Maurizio Benini, is featured on Saturday, March 24.
Finally, award-winning theater director Jack O'Brien directs Puccini's Il Trittico Saturday, April 28.
