For Release: Dec. 22, 2006
Gov. Ernie Fletcher announced the appointment of Allison Mefford, Alvaton, and Kim Patton, Hebron, as members of the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television, the FCC license holder for KET's 16-station public television network.
Mefford, a graduate of Centre College and the University of Louisville School of Law, is an attorney and serves on the Centre College Alumni Board.
Patton, an architect with GBBN Architects of Cincinnati, has served since 1999 as a trustee of the Commonwealth Fund for KET. He currently chairs its Northern Kentucky Regional Board.
With these appointments, John Domaschko and Marlene Grissom end their service to the Authority.
Domaschko, president of MC Squared, Inc. in Edgewood, served as chairman of the Authority from 1999 to 2004, and is currently serving as a member of the governing board of the Public Broadcasting Service.
Grissom, director of Special Projects for the Louisville Waterfront Development Corporation, was appointed to the Authority in 1994 and has served as chair since 2004. During her chairmanship, KET received a $15.7 million state appropriation to rebuild its technical infrastructure to the new digital standard.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television for more than 12 years," said Grissom. "KET is uniquely positioned in this age of new media to serve the public interest and strengthen our civil society through digital technologies."
In addition, the Council on Postsecondary Education recently reappointed Dr. Richard Freed, Lexington, and Hilma Prather, Somerset, to the Authority.
"KET is fortunate to have had John Domaschko and Marlene Grissom bring their great leadership, vision and dedication to the Authority. We can't thank them enough for the years they have invested in guiding KET's service to the people of the Commonwealth," said Malcolm Wall, KET executive director. "We are pleased to have outstanding new and reappointed board members to help position KET for the future."
