America's Ballroom Challenge brings together top ballroom dancers from around the world to compete across dance styles for the title of "America's Best." Filmed at the world's largest ballroom dancing competition in Columbus, Ohio, the new season of America's Ballroom Challenge airs Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 31 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET2 and Thursdays, beginning Feb. 1 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1.Hosted by actress Marilu Henner and former U.S. Latin dance champion Tony Meredith, America's Ballroom Challenge takes viewers onto the dance floor and behind the scenes as 24 couples compete for the ultimate dance title. Each of the first four programs will focus on one of the four major styles of competitive ballroom dancing: American Smooth, which includes American adaptations of the waltz, tango, foxtrot and Viennese waltz; American Rhythm, which consists of the cha-cha, rumba, swing, bolero and mambo; International Standard, ballroom's oldest and most recognizable style; and International Latin. Each program will end with the crowning of one couple, named champions in that style. In the fifth and final program, the four champions will compete across dance styles for the coveted title.
In addition to the competition on the dance floor, America's Ballroom Challenge will include behind-the-scenes footage of the couples, short pieces on different aspects of the world of ballroom dancing and a look at the distinctive features of each style of ballroom dancing.
America's Ballroom Challenge is produced by Moreno/Lyons Productions, LLC. More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
