Dan Gediman, a series producer for National Public Radio's "This I Believe" series, is Bill Goodman's guest on the next edition of One to One, airing Friday, Feb. 16 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET2 and Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1."This I Believe," independently produced by This I Believe Inc. in Louisville and Atlantic Public Media in Woods Hole, Mass., is a national media project engaging people in writing, sharing and discussing the core values and beliefs that guide their daily lives. NPR airs the resulting three-minute essays on its news programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
The project is based on the popular 1950s radio series of the same name hosted by Edward R. Murrow. In reviving "This I Believe," Gediman and host Jay Allison say their goal is not to persuade Americans to agree on the same beliefs but rather to encourage people to begin the much more difficult task of developing respect for beliefs different from their own.
Gediman is a reporter and producer whose work has been heard on All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Fresh Air, Marketplace, Soundprint, Jazz Profiles and This American Life, for which he produced a profile of his brother, a Tom Jones impersonator.
One to One is a KET production, produced by Bill Goodman and Cindy Asher. Following the broadcast, One to One is available for on-demand videostream viewing at www.ket.org/publicaffairs/onetoone.htm and podcasting at www.ket.org/rss. More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
