Louisville Life celebrates the Oscars with features on local ties to Hollywood, including an archeologist who worked fulltime at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch in California. The program airs Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Sunday, Feb. 25 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Hosted by Candyce Clifft, it also features a Louisville fencing school and an interview with the new director of Actors Theatre.

First, Louisville Life celebrates Oscar week with a look at local ties to show business. Author David Smith discusses his new book, Hoosiers in Hollywood , and an exhibit at the Indiana Historical Society, inspired by the book, is also featured. This segment examines the local ties of stars such as Carole Lombard, James Dean and Steve McQueen as well as some of the more obscure actors that called the Hoosier state home.

Next, the program profiles an archeologist who became an official location scout for Lucasfilm, which led to a full-time job working for George Lucas. David West Reynolds, Ph.D. held a position on the marketing team behind the record-setting launch of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace . In addition to numerous popular magazine articles, he is the author of seven best-selling Star Wars books.

En garde! Louisville Life then visits the Louisville school where students learn at the point of a weapon. At the Louisville Fencing Center, viewers meet instructors and students engaged in this dashing sport.

Then, Candyce talks with Jennifer Bielstein, the new managing director of Actors Theatre of Louisville. After all his history at Actors Theatre, how does one fill former director Sandy Speer's shoes?

Finally, its back to Hollywood history with a look at two legendary directors directly tied to Louisville--D.W. Griffith ( Birth of a Nation ) and Tod Browning, known as the "master of macabre."
