The divine secrets of candy making at a sweet Louisville dynasty are told on the next edition of Kentucky Life , airing Saturday, March 24 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Sunday, March 25 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday, March 25 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET2. The program is hosted by Dave Shuffett and his canine pal Charlie from the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro.

Started in 1921, Muth's has been owned and operated by the women of the Muth family since the 1950s. In this segment, Kentucky Life visits the Muths during the peak Easter season as they make a wide assortment of delicious candies. Besides offering a mouth-watering array of homemade modjeskas, creams, turtles, fudges, brittles and assorted chocolates, the Muths tell their family story of the three sisters who kept the business going. Today the Muth husbands and children all pitch in to help during the busy holiday seasons.

Next, Kentucky Life profiles Steve Holt, a writer who grew up in the hills of Eastern Kentucky with a keen sense of the land around him. Today he calls himself a landscape poet--and he's a rising star, having been published both regionally and nationally. With a unique ability to transport readers from their day-to-day lives to rural settings, Holt uses an Eastern Kentucky, folksy style combined with a mastery of the English language.

Finally, Kentucky Life stops by a basket-making workshop hosted by UK's Cooperative Extension Service. Teachers and students come from all over the country to learn more about making different kinds of baskets in a beautiful setting: the leadership center in Jabez, Ky.
