NCAA-winning coach Crum, Derby spelling bee, 'Dress for Success,' Urban League president featured by Louisville Life

Louisville Life t ake s a time out from March Madness to learn about the life of famed University of Louisville coach Denny Crum. The program airs Thursday, March 22 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Sunday, March 25 at

noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Hosted by Candyce Clifft, it also features Derby Week's annual spelling bee, a charity organization that help s disadvantaged women find jobs, an interview with the president of the Louisville Urban League and some trivia about Louisville's own Pee Wee Reese.

First , Louisville Life highlights former U of L basketball coach and Hall of Fame inductee Denny Crum's career at the university, with footage from both his national championships a nd interviews with former stand out players like Darrell Griffith, among others.

Next, viewers learn about one of the first Derby Festival events of the season, the Derby Festival Spelling Bee, where Kentucky's entrant for the Scripps National Spelling Bee is selected. Spelling bees are a popular topic on Broadway ( The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee ) and in Hollywood ( Akeelah and the Bee ) , and , in this segment, Louisville Life traces Louisville's link to the genesis of the national bee.

Dress for Success Louisville is a nonprofit organization aimed at boosting the chances for success for disadvantage d women by helping to outfit them with professional attire. This month, the organization holds its annual $2 sale to benefit the Louisville operation.

Next, Candyce interviews Benjamin K. Richmond, president and CEO of the Louisville Urban League and recent recipient of the city's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Award, presented by Mayor Jerry Abramson. The Urban League, established in 1910, is the nation's oldest and largest organization devoted to empowering African-Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream.

Finally, Louisville Life profiles Harold Henry Reese, internationally known as "Pee Wee," a name he was given as a young champion marble shooter. H is career in baseball is highlighted , including how he helped smooth the transition of Jackie Robinson into major league baseball.
