Bill McKibben will discuss his new book, Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future , with award-winning Kentucky author Wendell Berry on the next Kentucky Author Forum Presents . "A Conversation with Bill McKibben" airs Sunday, March 25 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET2 and Thursday, March 29 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET1.
McKibben offers a significant challenge to the prevailing view of our economy, observing that " more " is no longer synonymous with " better ." He urges the pursuit of prosperity in a more local direction, with cities, suburbs and regions producing more of their own food, generating more of their own energy and creating more of their own culture and entertainment. McKibben puts forward a new way to think about the things we buy, the food we eat, the energy we use and the money that pays for it all.
McKibben is interviewed by Wendell Berry, an honored writer, cultural and economic critic and, for more than 40 years, a farmer in his native Henry County, K y .
Berry is the author of many books of fiction, poetry and essays. He has been honored with the T. S. Eliot Award, the Aiken Taylor Award for poetry and the John Hay Award of the Orion Society.
