Pressroom Search:
Rocker John Mellencamp, bird artist Marvin Finn, "Geek Squad," Louisville Zoo featured by Louisville Life

For Release: Sept. 4, 2006

March 12, 2007

The walls will come crumblin' down on the next edition of Louisville Life when entertainer and Seymour, Ind., native John Mellencamp talks about his extraordinary career and continued ties to this region . The program, which airs Thursday, March 29 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Sunday, April 1 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2, also features a retrospective of the work of visual artist Marvin Finn, an interview with sports entertainment industry executive Diane McGraw and a profile of the Louisville Zoo. Candyce Clifft hosts.

First, Candyce spends some time with heartland rocker John Mellencamp, whose hits such as "Small Town," "Jack and Diane," "Pink Houses," and "Crumblin' Down" established him as one of the leading rock 'n' roll acts of the 1980s and '90s. His success continues to the present day with his latest hit song, "Our Country." In this interview, Mellencamp talks about his new album, his decision to allow Chevrolet to use his music for advertising, his aspirations to become a painter and his ongoing quest to write the perfect song.

Next, Louisville Life offers a tribute to the late visual artist Marvin Finn. In a segment taped in 2001, viewers can see his "Flock of Finns," 28 works depicting fanciful birds displayed throughout Louisville. The segment features comments from Finn, and former mayor David Armstrong.

Louisville's been invaded by geeks and the locals are loving it. The next segment answers two important questions: what is the Geek Squad and what does their arrival mean for the local economy?

Next, Candyce interviews Diane McGraw, a 25-year veteran of the sports entertainment industry and the newly named executive director of the Greater Louisville Sports Commission. She's also the widow of baseball great Tug McGraw and onetime step-mom to country great Tim McGraw.

Finally, the program features a profile of a 37-year-old Louisville land mark, the Louisville Zoo.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen.
