Renee discusses issues of concern to Hispanics on the holiday of Cinco de Mayo on the next edition of Connections with Renee Shaw , airing Saturday, May 5 at 3/2 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday, May 13 at 11:30/10:30 a.m. CT on KET2.
Cinco de Mayo recognizes the Mexican victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Along with conversation about the holiday, Renee discusses housing, employment and entrepreneurship in regard to the Hispanic community with Sandra Powell, Hispanic Outreach Coordinator in Richmond; Elisa Bruce, Latino Development Manager and an assistant vice president of Fifth Third Bank; and Andres Cruz, editor of La Voz de Kentucky, a bilingual newspaper in Central Kentucky focusing on Hispanic issues.
