Bluegrass musicians from Lexington and Louisville on next Jubilee

Lexington native Kati Penn and her bluegrass band and Louisville's Relic are featured on the next Jubilee , airing Wednesday , May 9 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1. The perform ance was recorded at the Kentucky Bluegrass Festival in Louisville .

Penn, at the age of 12, played fiddle and sang lead vocals for the Young Acoustic All-Stars, a band created by Pete Wernick, president of the International Bluegrass Music Association. Penn recorded and toured around the country with the band. She was the youngest of the musicians, and the only girl. She went on to work with many bands and well-known musicians, including J.D. Crowe and John Michael Montgomery.

Other members of the Kati Penn Band are Danny Barnes on mandolin and vocals, C. J. Cain on guitar and Paul Priest on bass .

Following Penn's performance, viewers can enjoy Relic , a four-piece band from Louisville that creates a new, distinctive approach to the traditions of b luegrass.

Relic includes vocalist and banjo player Aaron Bibelhauser of Louisville ; vocalist, mandolin player and fiddler Dave Howard of Owensboro; vocalist and double bass player Adam Bibelhauser of Louisville ; and guitarist Chuck Sharp of Elizabethtown.

Jubilee is a KET production, produced and directed by H. Russell Farmer. Duncan Hart is producer, and Nancy Carpenter is executive producer. The Kentucky Bluegrass Festival is organized by Bisig Impact Group.
