Kentucky winners of Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators C ontest announced

O n March 30, KET and the Kentucky Institute for Family Literacy announced the Kentucky winners in the 13th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest for students in kindergarten, first, second and third grades. The Kentucky winner from each grade level is entered in the national Reading Rainbow contest for a chance to win a laptop computer among other special prizes .

The kindergarten winner for Kentucky is Tritt Raymond Love-Holland of Louisville's Indian Trail Elementary. His story is titled "Zack the Super Dog." The first - grade winner is Lexingtonian Morgan Stewart, who won with "The Night Maddie was Scared." "Making a Friend" garnered a winning spot for second-grader Taylor Cooper of Somerset. And, the third - grade winner is Lawrenceburg's Quetzal Velasco, who won for "The Golden Horse."

This year's national winning entries will be posted on the PBS Kids Reading Rainbow site at www.pbskids.org/readingrainbow.
