The Cumberlands, a fixture of the bluegrass music scene, brings precise, traditional bluegrass to Jubilee , airing Wednesday, June 13 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1. The band's performance w as recorded at the Kentucky Bluegrass Music Festival in Louisville.Beginning as a folk trio , t he group has been performing since the 1960 s. They have played in nearly every state in the nation , recorded 12 albums, had their own TV series, appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and p erformed at diverse venues from rodeos and fairs to conventions and corporate functions.
The Cumberlands ' most recent CD is titled Civil War Tribute Collection . The album includes traditional songs from the Civil War era, including " Yellow Rose of Texas, " and " When Johnny Comes Marching Home ."
Members of T he Cumberlands are Betty Thom on percussion, Harold Thom on guitar, Jim Smoak on banjo, Jeff Guernsey on fiddle and guitar and Rick Harper on bass.
