Fire t he Saddle and Down on 5th -- two bands that put new twists on traditional bluegrass -- are featured on the next Jubilee , airing Wednesday, June 20 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1. The performances were recorded at the Kentucky Bluegrass Music Festival in Louisville.Louisville's Fire the Saddle combines bluegrass with rock 'n' roll in songs that range from sorrowful ballads to the upbeat and fu nny "Haircut." Members of Fire the Saddle are Mi ck Sullivan on banjo and guitar, Tory Fisher on guitar, Joe Burchett on mandolin and fiddle and Rob Collier on bass.
Then, Down on 5th brings what guitar player Marke Richardson describes as "new grass" to the Jubilee stage, updating "Down the Road," a traditional bluegrass song, and The Impressions' classic "People Get Ready." Other members of Down on 5th are Joe Larson on banjo, Kelsie Wesfall on bass and Dennis Haycraft on mandolin.
