Jewish traditions, Louisville's "Cookie Lady" and the American Printing House for the Blind are featured on the next edition of Louisville Life , airing Thursday, June 7 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Sunday, June 10 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Hosted by Candyce Clifft, the program also features a profile of Cissy Musselman, founder of the non-profit Women 4 Women Inc.

In the program's opening segment , viewers can learn more about Louisville's Jewish history from Carol Ely, author of Jewish Louisville: Portrait of a Community.

Then, the program examines the history of the world's largest company devoted solely to manufacturing products for the blind or visually impaired. Founded in 1858, the American Printing House for the Blind is the oldest organization of its kind in the United States. Viewers will also meet Joe Elliott, a WHAS-AM radio personality who is blind.

Next, Louisville Life savors the sweet goodness of Kizito Cookies, owned and operated by Elizabeth Namusoke Kizito. Born under a banana tree in Africa, Elizabeth learned the bakery business from her father, who taught her at his bakery when she was just a little girl. She brought this family tradition with her to America when she was 17. All the cookies and brownies Louisville's "Cookie Lady" sells are prepared by hand at her bakery on Bardstown Road.

Next, Candyce Clifft interviews Cissy Musselman, who founded Women 4 Women, which raises money and awareness for programs for women and girls. Host of one of the most respected women's golf tournaments and festivals in the country, it has donated more than $3 million for women's causes.

Finally, the program features a segment on Duncan Hines, who today is most often associated with cake mixes -- but the Kentuckian was America's first restaurant critic, who got his start as a traveling salesman.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life , including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
