Louisville natives will enjoy a holiday trip down memory lane in the next edition of Louisville Life , airing Thursday, June 14 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Sunday, June 17 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Hosted by Candyce Clifft, the program also features a visit to the Speed Museum and an interview with the director of the Louisville Metro Health Department.
First, the program spotlights volunteerism. For anyone who has ever been interested in volunteering in the community, Louisville Life provides a head start, with how-tos and information on how some of Louisville's biggest businesses are getting into the act of giving away their time and energy.
Next, producer Jayne McClew takes a look at holidays gone by. Jerry Rice, who produced the documentary "Fourth Street : Louisville's Street of Yesterdays," as well as a Louisville resident who made his own Christmas cards for decades in the first half of the 20th century are featured. Also included in this segment is a look at the sweet treats at Schmipff's Confectionary in Jeffersonville, Ind.
Then, the program discovers what the Speed Museum has in store for the younger set with at look at the art museum's "Art Sparks" program. Here, children have all the fun they want while they are learning about art.
Next, Candyce interviews Dr. Adewele Troutman, director of the Louisville Metro Health Department, the face of public health in Louisville. Troutman discusses how he's helping to make Louisville one of America's healthiest cities.
Finally, viewers find out how the most popular song in the English language was creat ed in Louisville. Penned by two sisters, "Happy Birthday" is one song absolutely everybody knows.
