As the presidential campaign season heats up , PBS late-ni ght talk show host Tavis Smiley serve s as the moderator of two live forums with the candidates. The first All-American Presidential Forum , featuring Democratic candidates, airs Thursday, June 28 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1.
The forum kicks off an ambitious line-up of content on multiple platforms for PBS' Election 2008 coverage and marks the first time that a panel composed exclusively of journalists of color will be represented in a primetime presidential forum.
In the forum, the candidates will be asked about issues ranging from healthcare and housing to Katrina relief, the economy and the environment, among others outlined in Smiley's top New York Times best-seller, Covenant With Black America .
Scheduled to be held at Howard University in Washington, the forum will feature Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson.
The Republican presidential forum will be held September 27 at Morgan State University in Baltimore, and will also be aired on KET.
