The Rhythm of My Soul: Kentucky Roots Music features an overview of the history, influences and traditions of country, bluegrass, gospel and mountain music in Kentucky. With rare and historic film clips of Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn and Ricky Skaggs (featured picking mandolin at 7 years old), the film documents the music by featuring the people who live it. The program airs Tuesday, June 12 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET2 and Wednesday, June 13 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1 .The Rhythm of My Soul also f eatur es some true national treasures playing their favorite songs and demonstrating their instrument-making techniques, including 77 - year - old banjo picker Lee Sexton 80 - year - old fiddle maker Buddy Ratcliff t he Tri-City Messengers, a Gospel group made up of retired black coal miners t he Carriere Family with 10 - and 12 - year - old fiddle players Josh and Stacie Rob McNurlin and t he Beatnik Cowboys Bottomline fiddler John Harrod mandolin picker Don Rigsby fiddler Jesse Wells and dulcimer maker Warren May, among others.
