Host Bill Goodman welcomes author Gary P. West of Bowling Green to the next One to One , airing Friday, July 6 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET2 and Sunday, July 8 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1.

West spent two years traveling to a host of restaurants in towns around the Commonwealth, and the results of this culinary trek are revealed in his new book, Eating Your Way Across Kentucky: 101\~Must Places to Eat . Referring to his traveling partner, his wife Deborah, West says, "We would some days eat in five or six restaurants." The resulting traveler's guide to local favorites is illustrated and includes detailed driving directions and menu reviews.

West used as his model the guides published by fellow Kentuckian, restaurant-ratings pioneer Duncan Hines , in the 1930s and 1940s which helped travelers identify good places to stop for a bite to eat. His rules on which establishments to visit were simple -- no chain restaurants, and where possible, restaurants that had been operating for at least five years.

West is also the author of King Kelly Coleman : Kentucky's Greatest Basketball Legend abou t a player from Wayland, K y. , whose 1956 Kentucky High School State Basketball Tournament record of 68 points and 28 rebounds still stands today.

One to One is a KET production, produced by Bill Goodman and Cindy Asher. Following the broadcast, One to One is available for on-demand videostream viewing at www.ket.org/publicaffairs/onetoone.htm and podcasting at www.ket.org/rss .
