| Wide Angle launches new season by visiting China's courts , Havana Boxing Academy , Cairo's version of "The View" |

A new season of Wide Angle looks at China's burgeoning justice system, a legendary boxing academy i n Cuba and an all-female talk show that's shaking up the Arab world. Wide Angle airs Tuesdays, beginning July 3 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET2 and Mondays, beginning July 9 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET1. First, " The People's Court " takes viewers inside the courtrooms and law schools of China to provide a character-driven look at China's rapidly growing legal system. The program follows itinerant judges, law students and ordinary Chinese citizens seeking justice as the country tackles the massive task of establishing a legal framework for its new market economy.\~ Then, "Victory I s Your Duty" (7/10) visits the legendary Havana Boxing Academy -- the first time that the academy has opened its doors to a foreign film crew -- where physical training and revolutionary indoctrination go hand in hand. As Fidel Castro' s faltering health throws the future into question, this program reveals the academy as a microcosm of Cuban society, where grade-school boys are groomed to fight for the honor of the revolution. Next, Sheikh Saud of Ras al-Khaimah has a grandiose dream -- a new capital city in the middle of his desert kingdom. Once an outpost for pirates and the pearl trade, the United Arab Emirates is reinventing itself, and Ras al-Khaimah, the northern emirate, wants a piece of the future. " The Sand Castle " (7/17) follows a Norwegian architectural firm as it bids to create a city on the sand dunes. Later in the season, " Dishing Democracy " goes behind the scenes at Arabic television channel MBC in Cairo and its hit all-female talk show, " Kalam Nawaem. " Similar in style to ABC's " The View, " the top-rated program is hosted by four hosts of different ages, nationalities and points of view who tackle such sensitive issues as homosexuality, domestic violence, women voting and social and political equality between the sexes.
