Kentucky Life features Morgan County photographer, stained glass artist, spring wildflowers

For Release: July 2 , 2006

Beauty is on display indoors and out when Kentucky Life features Morgan County photographer Dean Hill, the wildflowers of the Sally Brown Nature Preserve and the stained glass of artist Guy Kemper . T he program, hosted by Dave Shuffett and his canine pal Charlie, air s Saturday, July 21 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Sunday, July 22 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday, July 22 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET2.

First, Kentucky Life spends some time with Dean Hill, who left Morgan County for college, joined the Peace Corps, and while in Thailand, took up photography. His travels have subsequently taken him far and wide, but he returned to his roots and built a home on land that has been in the family generations. His goal as a photographer, he says, is to capture the beauty of the Appalachian foothills.

Next, viewers discover the beauty of spring wildflowers at the Sally Brown Nature Preserve, established to protect the palisades ecosystem along the Kentucky River in Garrard County. In this segment, Jim Aldrich of the Nature Conservancy's Kentucky chapter explains what makes this preserve so special in the springtime.

Then, Kentucky Life profiles an artist who is world-renowned for his large-scale "glass art." From international airports, to county libraries, to a chapel at Ground Zero, Guy Kemper of Versailles takes his art beyond just stained glass.

Kentucky Life is a KET production, produced by Joy Flynn. Segment producers for this program are Joy Flynn, Jim Piston, Brandon Wickey and Tom Thurman.
