I n preparation for the September premiere of Ken Burns' latest documentary, The War , a seven-part series that explore s the history and horror of World War II, KET asks viewers to share their W orld War II stories and photos.

The War focuses on a handful of men and women from four American towns , but could have aimed its camera at any town in America for deeply personal stories about W orld War II . An important theme in the series is that in extraordinary times, there are no ordinary lives . In order to continue that theme, PBS member stations all over the country are collecting stories from viewers about life o n the homefront or on the battlefield.

Kentuckians have the opportunity to participate by visiting www.ket.org/thewar . There, veterans and their families can submit accounts of their W orld War II experiences, or receive a toll-free number they can call to create audio recordings of their stories.

Visitors to the Web site may also participate in the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project, which collect s materials for the national historical archives in Washington, DC.

The War is a co-producti on of Florentine Films and WETA .
