Carey Cavanaugh, a former U.S. ambassador and director of the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, is Bill Goodman's guest on the next edition of One to One , airing Friday, August 24 at 10/9 pm CT and Sunday, August 26 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1.
In this program, Cavanaugh discusses his 22-year diplomatic career with the U.S. Department of State. Under Presidents Clinton and Bush, Cavanaugh helped advance peace efforts involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Tajikistan and Turkey. In addition to Washington assignments in the State Department, Pentagon and on Capitol Hill, Ambassador Cavanaugh served in Berlin, Moscow, Tbilisi, Rome and Bern. He received his education at the University of Florida and the University of Notre Dame, with additional graduate work at the U.S. Army Russian Institute in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
In addition to his position as head of the Patterson School, Cavanaugh also serves as a professor of diplomacy and conflict resolution.
