Kentucky Life features the re-enactment of the wedding of the parents of Abraham Lincoln staged last summer in Springfield on "Lincoln Wedding , " air ing Saturday, Sept. 1 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Sunday, Sept. 2 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1 and S und ay, Sept. 2 at 7 / 6 p.m. CT on KET 2 .Taped at the Lincoln Homestead Park in Springfield, the program features a performance of "The Vows of a Lincoln Wedding" as well as other activities surrounding the event.
The program, narrated by an actor portraying Abraham Lincoln, also features interviews regarding the upcoming Lincoln bicentennial and re-enactors playing historical figures such as George Washington and the slave York, who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their exploration of the Louisiana Purchase. Other actors in period costume perform the tasks of daily life in the early 1800s in Kentucky.
Held to mark the 200th anniversary of the marriage, the Springfield event was the beginning of Kentucky's three-year Lincoln celebration, which will culminate in the bicentennial of Lincoln's 1809 birth.
