Brothers in Arms and Kentucky at War focus on the connections the citizens of the Commonwealth have to World War II.
Brothers in Arms , airing Thursday, Sept. 6 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1 and Thursday, Sept. 13 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET2, presents archival footage and interviews to reveal the experiences of the 101st Airborne "Screamin' Eagles," the Fort Campbell paratrooper unit that helped liberate France. Told by the veterans of the 101st, this program covers the formation of the unit, the jumps into France and Holland, the despaired defense of Bastogne and the final days of the war when the Eagles captured Hitler's home .
Then, Kentucky at War , airing Monday, Sept. 17 at 9/8 pm CT on KET1 and Thursday, Sept. 27 at 9/8 pm CT on KET2, features interviews, archival film footage and letters to tell the story of how communities from the mountains of Appalachia to Western Kentucky river towns were altered forever by the war. Viewers can see how citizens of the Commonwealth experienced the war, as well as learn, through a chronological retelling of the Pacific and European theaters, the story of all the major battles of World War II.
