Singer/songwriter Norah Jones, whose debut album Come Away with Me garnered her six Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, opens the 33rd season of Austin City Limits . The program airs Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday , Oct. 7 at midnight/11 p.m. CT on KET2. This season also marks the beginning of high-definition broadcasts of the series. The program airs in high definition Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Friday, Oct. 12 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET HD.Jones's second album, Feels like Home , was released in 2004, selling more than a million copies in the first week. In 2007, she released her third album, Not Too Late , which debuted at number one on the world charts. She has become one of the most successful recording artists of the decade, selling more than 39 million records worldwide.
In this program, Jones performs old favorites and songs from Not Too Late . Jones is also showcased in the forthcoming documentary The War , produced by Ken Burns, in which she performs "American Anthem."\~\~
Artists featured in this season of Austin City Limits include the Decemberists and instrumental quartet Explosions in the Sky; Nigerian bandleader and political activist Femi Kuti; Jimmie Vaughan, who pays tribute to blues composer Jimmy Reed; and pop legend Van Morrison, making his first Austin City Limits appearance.
