Airing the week of Louisville's Susan G. Komen walk, the next Louisville Life celebrates the city's breast cancer survivors. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday , Oct. 11 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT, Friday, Oct. 12 at 4/3 p.m. CT and Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.
First, Louisville Life look s at breast cancer survivorship from the point of view of two well-known local women, broadcaster Mel Fisher and advertising CEO Debbie Scoppechio. Viewers also learn about a new source of support for local cancer patients, Gilda's Club Louisville , which is scheduled to open October 20th.
Then, the program visits Louisville area farmers' market s , including the new Phoenix Hill market, the Smoketown/Shelby Park market and the Bardstown Road market. Local food expert Sarah Fritschner is interviewed along with an expert from the Kentucky Proud program. And, viewers discover how urban areas may be leading the way back to Kentucky's agrarian roots.
Next, Louisville Life meets the Louisville Rowing Club (LRC) , a group of rowing enthusiasts of all skill levels who row along the Ohio River. The LRC gives lessons in team and individual rowing, and has active programs for high school students and people with disabilities.
Finally, Candyce interviews Tori Murden McClure, the first woman to row solo across an ocean, the first woman to ski to the South Pole and the first woman to climb Lewis Nunatuk in the Antarctic. McClure is now the vice president of external relations, enrollment management and student affairs at Spalding University .
