Highlights of the annual ENVI Awards, presented to individuals who have made the greatest contributions to the goals of PRIDE, are presented in ENVI Awards 2007 , airing Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10:30/9:30 pm CT and Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3/2 pm CT on KET1.PRIDE, which stands for Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment, links local, state, and federal efforts to clean up Southern and Eastern Kentucky and promote environmental education and awareness.
This year's Unsung Hero Awards were given to the Friends of Fishtrap Lake in Pike County; the Friends of Lake Cumberland in Pulaski County; and the Friends of Laurel Lake.
Lee County's Southside Elementary School won the Elementary School Campus of the Year Award. Corbin Middle School in Whitley County took home the Middle School Campus of the Year Award. Pulaski County's Somerset High School won the High School Campus of the Year Award. The College/Community Project of the Year Award was given to Somerset Community College.
Ken Kinder of Pike County won the Tony Turner Volunteer of the Year Award. Rodney Potter of Pike County and Jeffrey Thomas of Casey County won Rogers-Bickford Environmental Leadership Awards.
Finally, the Kentucky PRIDE Award went to Henry Hinkle of Hinkle Contracting in Bourbon County and the Decade of Difference Diamond Award went to Lakis Mavinidis of Harlan County.
