Louisville Life meets Louisville's Lebowski fans, a local actress and musician, and the new director of the Speed museum on the next edition, airing Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT, Friday, Oct. 19 at 4/3 p.m. CT and Sunday, Oct. 21 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Candyce Clifft hosts.
First, Louisville Life heads to Lebowski Fest , an event celebrating all things relating to the Coen brothers ' 1998 film, The Big Lebowski. Lebowski Fest founders Will Russell and Scott Shuffitt and co-authors Bill Green and Ben Peskoe are also celebrating the release of their new book, I ' m A Lebowski, You're a Lebowski . Louisville Life viewers meet Green, who discusses his background in art design, including his popular Lebowski Fest posters.
Next, the program visits a unique and historical bowling alley, the Vernon. A floor of the building was at one time a parish hall and club room for young men, arranged by the St. Joseph Church in 1886.
Then, Louisville Life profiles dancer, actress, singer and trumpeter Angela Bartley. Bartley gained local notoriety playing " The Call to the Post " for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. She is also a Chautauqua living history presenter for the Kentucky Humanities Council , performing monologues as Rosie the Riveter and young Mary Todd Lincoln.
Next, Candyce interviews Charles Venable, the new director at the Speed Art Museum. Venable discusses upcoming events and exhibits at the art museum, including 2008's "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness: Art and the American Experience, 1660-1893" from the Yale University Art Gallery. The exhibition includes almost 200 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, furniture, silver and ceramics from Yale University's renowned collection of 18th- and 19th-century American fine and decorative arts.
Finally, Louisville Life spotlights famed astronomer Edwin Powell Hubble and his connection to Kentucky.
