The next two editions of One to One feature guests from the 2007 Shakertown Roundtable, an event that this year addressed early childhood development and its effect on economic development in Kentucky. Held at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, the annual event is designed to bring together accomplished Kentuckians to focus on new ways to meet Kentucky's challenges. The programs air Sundays, Oct. 14 and 21 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1 and Tuesdays, Oct. 16 and 23 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2. Bill Goodman hosts.
The first program, airing Oct. 14 and 16, includes excerpts from former Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley's address to the Shakertown Roundtable. Bradley, a former NBA star as well as presidential candidate, is the author of the recently released book, The New American Story. In the book, Bradley offers ideas for changes in American politics and activism. "Politics is stuck," he says, "but idealism isn't dead. It can be reawakened."
On the second program, airing Oct. 21 and 23, Goodman interviews lawyer and author Philip K. Howard, another participant in this year's Shakertown Roundtable, and author of The Death of Common Sense and The Collapse of the Common Good. Howard is also the founder of Common Good, a coalition dedicated to restoring common sense to America.
One to One is a KET production, produced by Bill Goodman and Cindy Asher. Following the broadcast, One to One is available for on-demand videostream viewing at www.ket.org/publicaffairs/onetoone.htm and podcasting at www.ket.org/rss.
