KET health series recognized by Health Kentucky

KET's CommonHealth of Kentucky series was recently honored with Health Kentucky's Medical Reporting Award. The 13-part series, which takes a close look at 29 projects throughout the state that are models for addressing a wide range of health and health-system problems, received the award during Health Kentucky's gala event that took place Sept. 29 in Louisville.

The CommonHealth of Kentucky, hosted by Louisville surgeon Dr. Wayne Tuckson, is part of KET's Be Well Kentucky health initiative. Each program in the series focuses on a particular health topic -- from services that help first-time parents raise healthier babies to programs aimed at improving the quality of life for the elderly -- and features a roundtable discussion with a panel of health-care professionals. The goal of the program is to engage Kentuckians in solutions to critical he alth and health-system challenges.

"KET's Be Well Kentucky initiative was designed to address Kentucky's health and wellness challenges through media and outreach services across the state. This series was the signature launch of that project," said Executive Director Malcolm Wall. "It is wonderful to see those efforts being recognized and making a difference for the citizens of the Commonwealth."

Health Kentucky is a statewide nonprofit network of doctors, hospitals and pharmacies that offer free services to low-income or uninsured Kentuckians.
