Renee and her guests discuss the end of the housing market boom on the next Connections with Renee Shaw. The program airs Saturday, Nov. 3 at 3/2 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11:30/10:30 a.m. CT on KET2.Guests include D. McGinnis Mitchell, chief executive officer and president of Premier Mortgage Group; Abdul Muhammad, vice president for Fifth-Third Central Kentucky's mortgage lending team; and Linda Taylor of REACH, a Central Kentucky agency that assists low-to-moderate income families with affordable housing. REACH (Resources, Education, and Assistance for Community Housing) provides budget, credit and homeownership education as well as down payment and closing cost assistance.
The program focuses on the nationwide spike in the foreclosure rate, unscrupulous lending practices like sub-prime mortgage lending and predatory lending, and advice for first-time homebuyers and for those homeowners looking to refinance. The guests also discuss issues important to those looking to acquire a home, such as ways to save money and improve credit scores.
